  • Grits: 2 cups yellow grits 2 cups heavy cream, 1 liter water, 2 cups cheddar, smoked paprika
  • Sauce: 4 bacon slices 4 tomatoes (chopped), 1 onion, 1 tbsp brown sugar, red pepper flakes
  • Shrimp: 1 lb raw shrimp peeled

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Fry bacon until crisp; remove. Cook onion and tomatoes in the bacon fat with sugar and spices for 30-45 mins.
  2. Boil water, cream, and paprika. Whisk in grits and simmer 30-35 mins until thick.
  3. Stir cheddar into the cooked grits.
  4. Add shrimp to the tomato sauce and cook 5-7 mins until pink.
  5. Serve bowls of grits topped with the shrimp sauce and crumbled bacon.
