  • Topping: 2 red onions sliced, 1 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Dogs: 4 thick hot dogs 4 slices smoked bacon
  • Finish: 4 tbsp sweet mustard 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese, 4 buns, pickles

  • Frying pan
  • Broiler

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Sauté onions slowly for 15 mins. Add sugar/vinegar and cook 15 mins more until sticky and sweet.
  2. Prick sausages and wrap each spirally with a slice of bacon (stretch bacon first).
  3. Broil 10-15 mins, turning, until bacon is crispy.
  4. Top sausages with mustard and Gruyère; broil briefly to melt.
  5. Load buns with onions, bacon-wrapped dogs, and chopped pickles.
