Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • Cake: 7 tbsp butter 1 1/3 cups sugar, 2 eggs, 1 2/3 cups self-rising flour, 1 cup cocoa powder, 1/4 cup kirsch, 3/4 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla
  • Icing: 11 tbsp butter 1/3 cup cocoa, 1 1/3 cups confectioners’ sugar, 1/4 cup milk
  • Filling: 1 small can cherries drained/chopped

Equipment

  • Two 8-inch cake pans
  • Mixer
  • Bowls

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs. Alternately add dry ingredients and kirsch/milk mixture.
  2. Bake in two pans at 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) for 30-35 mins. Cool.
  3. Make icing by melting butter and cocoa, cooling, then beating in sugar and milk.
  4. Mix half the icing with chopped cherries for the filling.
  5. Sandwich layers with filling and frost the top with remaining icing.
