Main Ingredients
  • Crust: 2 1/3 cups flour 1/3 cup sugar, 13 tbsp cold butter, ice water
  • Filling: 14oz Granny Smith apples 14oz Royal Gala apples (peeled/cored/sliced)
  • Flavor: 2 tbsp lemon juice 4 tbsp white sugar, 4 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 3 tbsp flour

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Make the dough with cold butter and chill for 1 hour.
  2. Slice apples thinly and toss with sugars, flour, spices, and lemon juice.
  3. Roll out bottom crust and mound the apples in the center.
  4. Top with the second crust, crimp edges, cut vents, and brush with egg wash.
  5. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 1 hour until golden and bubbling.
