These grilled chicken wings are marinated in a rich blend of dark soy sauce, fresh ginger, and honey. A touch of black food gel gives the marinade a deep, dramatic color that is perfect for a themed party or Halloween gathering. You can easily skip the food coloring for a classic, appetizing look. Warm spices like cinnamon and turmeric add an unexpected, savory depth to the sticky, sweet glaze.

Ingredients
8 large chicken wings, about 100g each
1 garlic clove
5cm piece of fresh root ginger, peeled and chopped
2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons peanut oil
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
2 tablespoons honey
3 drops of black food gel
salt
1 Soak 8 bamboo skewers in cold water for 30 minutes.
Instructions
1Combine the garlic, ginger, dark soy sauce, peanut oil, cinnamon, turmeric, honey, black food gel, and salt in a blender or food processor. Process the mixture until it reaches a smooth consistency.
2Place the chicken wings in a shallow, non-metallic dish. Pour the blended marinade over the meat and toss well to coat every piece. Cover the dish and let it rest in the refrigerator for one to two hours.
3Take the chicken out of the dish and thread the wings onto soaked bamboo skewers. Grill the skewers on a hot barbecue for four to five minutes per side, brushing them frequently with any leftover marinade.
4If you are not using an outdoor barbecue, place the skewered wings under a preheated hot broiler. Cook them for four to five minutes on each side while basting with the remaining marinade.
