Meatballs enriched with pancetta are braised together with sweet, shredded Savoy cabbage. A perfect winter comfort dish.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 ounces pancetta, chopped fine
  • 1 slice bread soaked in milk
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan
  • 1 1/2 pounds Savoy cabbage, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons chopped garlic
  • 2/3 cup chopped tomatoes

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Make meatballs (beef, pancetta, panade, egg, cheese). Brown and remove.
  2. Sauté garlic in oil. Add cabbage. Cover and cook 1 hour until very soft.
  3. Uncover, brown cabbage slightly.
  4. Add tomatoes. Cook 15 mins.
  5. Return meatballs to pan. Cook together 10-15 mins.
  6. Serve.
