Classic Folded Omelette

Classic Folded Omelette

A classic folded omelette is a foundational breakfast dish that comes together in minutes. This simple preparation relies on just butter and seasoned eggs to create a tender, golden meal. It is perfect for a quick weekday morning or a relaxed weekend brunch. The hot pan ensures the eggs set quickly while keeping the center soft and creamy. You can enjoy it plain or add your favorite fillings right before folding.

Ingredients

  • 15g (½oz) butter
  • 2 medium eggs, beaten and seasoned with salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. 1Melt the butter in a preheated small frying pan until it sizzles but does not brown. Pour the beaten and seasoned eggs into the pan, stirring them briefly with a fork.
  2. 2Watch for the edges of the eggs to begin setting against the sides of the pan. Gently lift the cooked edges to allow the raw egg to flow underneath and hit the hot surface.
  3. 3Wait until the top is mostly set and the bottom develops a light golden color. Run a spatula around the edges to loosen the eggs, then shake the pan firmly to ensure nothing is sticking.
  4. 4Place any desired fillings on one half of the eggs. Fold the empty half over the filling, then carefully tilt the pan to slide the finished dish onto a plate.
