French Press Chicory Dandelion Coffee

French Press Chicory Dandelion Coffee

This caffeine-free beverage offers a satisfying alternative to your morning cup of joe. Roasted chicory and dandelion root powders combine to create a deeply flavored, earthy drink with the complex bitterness of traditional coffee. A touch of ground cinnamon adds warmth to the brew. It is easy to prepare in a standard French press and tastes wonderful topped with frothed oat milk and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480 ml) water
  • 1½ tablespoons roasted chicory root powder
  • 1 teaspoon roasted dandelion root powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. 1Gather unsweetened oat milk or your preferred plant milk for serving.
  2. 2Select a sweetener like maple syrup, sugar, or agave syrup to taste.
  3. 3Prepare any optional additions such as cocoa powder, vanilla extract, coconut oil, or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  4. 4Bring the water to a rolling boil in a small saucepan.
  5. 5Place the roasted chicory root powder, roasted dandelion root powder, and ground cinnamon into a French press.
  6. 6Pour the boiling water into the French press, stir the mixture well, and place the lid on top without pressing the plunger down.
  7. 7Let the beverage brew for 5 to 20 minutes depending on your desired strength, then slowly press the plunger all the way down.
  8. 8Pour the brewed drink into mugs and stir in your chosen milk, sweetener, and extra flavorings.
