Ingredients

  • 1 bottle inexpensive red wine
  • 300ml clear apple juice
  • 300ml water
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • ½ lemon, sliced
  • 1 cinnamon stick, halved
  • 6 cloves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 150ml brandy

Instructions

  1. 1Combine the red wine, clear apple juice, and water in a large saucepan.
  2. 2Stir in the sliced orange, sliced lemon, halved cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaves, caster sugar, and brandy until the sugar dissolves.
  3. 3Cover the saucepan and simmer gently for at least 20 minutes until the liquid is piping hot. Ladle the spiced wine into heatproof glasses.
