Rose Water Cordial

Rose Water Cordial

Fragrant rose water forms the base of this sweet and refreshing homemade cordial. It requires just three simple ingredients and a few minutes on the stove to create a versatile floral syrup. Mix it with cold water and plenty of ice for a cooling summer drink. You can also add a splash to a gin and tonic for an aromatic twist. Keep a bottle in the fridge to mix into your favorite warm weather beverages.

Ingredients

  • 450g granulated sugar
  • 225ml water
  • 100ml rose water

Instructions

  1. 1Combine the granulated sugar and water in a heavy saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly until the sugar completely dissolves.
  2. 2Lower the heat and simmer the syrup for 5 minutes. Pour in the rose water and continue simmering for another 4 to 5 minutes. Allow the liquid to cool in the pan before straining it through a fine sieve into a clean glass bottle or jar.
  3. 3Prepare a drink by placing several ice cubes in a glass and pouring in two to three tablespoons of the cooled syrup. Fill the rest of the glass with cold water and stir well before serving.
