Aged tequila brings warm vanilla notes that pair beautifully with bright citrus and lingering spice in this tiki-inspired drink. Fresh jalapeno slices add a sharp, earthy heat that cuts right through the rich sweetness of almond syrup and falernum. It's the exact drink you'll want when you're craving something more complex than a standard margarita. You'll love how the pepper oils mingle with the spiced liqueur for a smooth, fiery finish.

Ingredients
½ OZ. FRESH LIME JUICE
½ OZ. ORGEAT
2 slices OF JALAPEÑO CHILE PEPPER
2 OZ. REPOSADO TEQUILA
½ OZ. FALERNUM
1 STRIP OF ORANGE PEEL, FOR GARNISH.
Instructions
1Combine the fresh lime juice, orgeat, and jalapeno slices in a cocktail shaker. Muddle them together firmly to release the pepper oils for maximum heat.
2Fill the shaker with ice, pour in the reposado tequila and falernum, and shake vigorously until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
3Strain the liquid into a chilled coupe glass and garnish the rim with a fresh strip of orange peel.
Notes
Glassware: Chill your coupe glass in the freezer for 10 minutes before mixing to keep the drink colder longer.
Spice level: Leave the seeds in the jalapeno slices if you prefer a much hotter cocktail, or remove them for a milder kick.
Swap: If you don't have falernum, you can use a splash of spiced rum and a dash of simple syrup.
