Traveler’s Overnight Oats

Rolled oats, milk, and a spoonful of natural yogurt go into a jar the night before, thickening into a creamy, spoonable breakfast by morning. The base takes under two minutes to assemble, then rests in the fridge for eight hours to do its work. Three flavor directions keep it fresh across the week: cinnamon with blueberries, cocoa powder with cherries, or desiccated coconut with strawberries. One jar, one person, zero morning effort.

Ingredients

  • 50g oats
  • 110–120ml milk
  • 1 tablespoon natural yogurt, plus extra to serve (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon and a small handful of blueberries
  • ½ tablespoon cocoa powder and a few cherries
  • ½ tablespoon desiccated coconut and a few strawberries

Instructions

  1. 1Mix the oats, milk, and yogurt together in a glass jar or sealable container. Stir in your chosen flavor combination, making sure no dry pockets remain at the bottom.
  2. 2Cover the container tightly and chill in the refrigerator overnight. The oats need this resting time to soften and fully absorb the liquid.
  3. 3Stir the chilled oat mixture well to redistribute the ingredients. Top with extra fresh fruit and a spoonful of yogurt right before eating.

Notes

  • Vegan swap: Use dairy-free milk and a plant-based yogurt like oat or coconut instead of standard dairy.
  • Variations: Try topping your jar with chopped apples, diced pears, dried fruit, or toasted nuts.
  • Storage: Keep the prepared jars in the fridge for up to 3 days for an easy grab-and-go option.
