A nostalgic comfort dessert. Whole peeled apples are filled with cinnamon sugar, wrapped in a tender pastry crust, and baked until golden. Served warm with a scoop of spiced cinnamon ice cream.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • Apples: 4 Golden Delicious peeled/cored, 4 tbsp butter, cinnamon, 1 egg, 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • Pastry: 2.5 cups flour 1 tsp salt, 3 tbsp sugar, 3/4 cup butter (cubed), 1/4 cup shortening
  • Ice Cream: 1 cup milk 1 cup heavy cream, 4 yolks, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon

Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • Baking sheet
  • Ice cream maker

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Make cinnamon ice cream base, chill, and churn.
  2. Make pastry dough and chill for 1 hour.
  3. Roll out dough rounds. Place an apple on each, filling the core with butter and cinnamon.
  4. Wrap dough around the apple, seal, Brush with egg.
  5. Bake at 325 degrees F (160 degrees C) for 45 mins. Serve hot with ice cream.
